For sign shops

Art file requirements.

What we need, what we don't accept, and how to avoid rework.

Accepted file types

.AI
Vector artwork file
.EPS
Encapsulated PostScript
.CDR
Vector artwork file

We prep all tooling files in-house. If you can only supply PDF, contact us first — some PDFs work, many don't.

Technical requirements

  • Text outlined. All text must be converted to outlines before sending. Missing fonts cause production delays and substitution errors.
  • Minimum stroke width 0.030". Anything thinner may not form cleanly in the compression mold.
  • Braille as Grade 2. Supply Grade 2 braille in the production-ready art. Translation accuracy is yours. Braille translation, if needed, is quoted per job. Uncontracted braille will not meet ADA.
  • One artboard per job when possible. Multiple signs can share an artboard. One complex layered artboard per job is easier than several separate files.
  • Correct scale. Files should be at actual production size. If we have to scale, specify the target size clearly.

What we don't accept

  • Low-resolution raster images intended as a substitute for vector art
  • Photographs embedded in place of logos or graphics — send the vector version
  • Password-protected or locked files
  • Fonts that haven't been converted to outlines
  • Files with missing linked elements

If you're not sure

When in doubt about file type or stroke width, email the file to Michael before sending a PO. We manufacture from the production-ready art you supply. We do not prepare that art or check the braille translation.
